A Seoul clinic visit can fit into a holiday. The part that needs planning is what happens after the appointment: photographs, hiking, swimming, makeup—and access to your doctor.
How much downtime should you allow?
These are planning ranges, not a promise or flight clearance. Your exact product, settings, injection sites, skin response and combined treatments can change the plan.
| Treatment | What can affect your trip | How to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Botulinum toxin | Often little interruption to normal activities; injection marks, bruising or headache can still occur. | Keep important photos flexible. Follow your injector’s exercise advice; AAD guidance advises at least two hours before strenuous activity. |
| Gentle laser toning / pico toning | Redness may be brief, but spot treatment or fractional settings can cause more visible recovery. | Ask which mode you are receiving. A “pico” machine name alone cannot tell you the downtime. Compare the treatments. |
| Ultherapy / Shurink (HIFU) | Many return to daily activities quickly; tenderness, swelling or bruising may outlast visible redness. | Do not schedule on the assumption of zero marks. Ultherapy data cannot establish the same recovery for every Shurink model. Ultherapy safety information. |
| Potenza / RF microneedling | Redness, swelling, sensitivity and sometimes pinpoint crusting; recovery varies with settings. | Reserve quiet, flexible days. General microneedling reactions can last a few days to a week; this is not a Potenza-specific guarantee. AAD guidance. |
| Rejuran / injectable skin boosters | Small raised injection marks, swelling and bruising may be visible. | Avoid promising next-day photo readiness. PN studies report transient reactions, often within a week, but individual recovery may be longer. PN review. |
| Dermal filler | Swelling and bruising; uncommon complications can require urgent treatment. | Arrange a review and discuss exercise, travel and the exact injection site. Body filler needs a separate plan—not a universal one-week rule. FDA safety guidance. |

A flexible one-week Korea itinerary
An example—not a medical timetable:
| Trip stage | A useful plan |
|---|---|
| Early in the trip | Consultation, then sightseeing and important photographs. Discuss hiking, beach days and your flight before agreeing to treatment. |
| Middle of the trip | Treatment only if the recommended recovery and review fit your remaining stay. |
| After treatment | Quiet cafés, museums and rest if you feel well. Keep bookings refundable; leave a route back to the clinic. |
| Before departure | Review when advised. Collect your treatment record, aftercare instructions and a contact who can respond after you return home. |
After procedures that leave skin hot, irritated or punctured, move saunas, strenuous hikes and swimming out of the immediate recovery period. Ask your clinician when your skin is ready to resume each activity. A fixed 24-hour rule cannot cover every treatment.
RF microneedling deserves more than a “lunchtime facial” label. The FDA has reported serious complications with certain uses, including burns, scars, fat loss and nerve injury. Ask who will perform it, which device and settings are planned, and how complications are handled.

What if a problem starts after I fly home?
Get urgent medical help for vision changes, severe or unusual pain with pale, grey or blue skin after filler, or trouble breathing or swallowing. In Korea, call 119 for an ambulance; elsewhere use the local emergency number. Do not wait for an overseas clinic’s message reply. Filler warning signs.
Spreading redness, fever, discharge, worsening pain or new persistent lumps also need prompt clinical assessment. Some infections or inflammatory reactions appear after the trip. Contact the treating clinic and a local clinician; share dates, product/device names, injection sites and photographs. Avoid self-treating with leftover antibiotics, steroids or filler dissolver.
Before booking, ask who pays for additional assessment and whether your insurance covers complications of elective treatment abroad. CDC medical tourism guidance recommends planning continuity of care and taking medical records home.
Quick answers
Can I do everything on my last day?
A last-day package leaves little time for an in-person review. Choose fewer treatments or defer them when your remaining stay cannot accommodate the recommended follow-up.
Is looking normal the same as being ready to fly?
No. Appearance, medical recovery and fitness to fly are different questions. Ask the treating clinician about your procedure and travel circumstances.
